Its location is suitable as a meeting point for events as Hull's New Theatre is close by along with other pubs, bars and restaurants. Food is themed around chilli. The pub sells 6, mainly regional, cask ales and a number of ciders.

A community group (Hull Community Pub Society, a Community Benefit Society) was setup to make a bid to buy this pub and in December 2024 they completed the purchase. Pub closed for extensive refurbishments and is due to reopen in the Summer of 2025.
