Refurbished over a period of five years and finally re-opened May 2016. If you like dark wood, distinct drinking areas with a variety of seating in a split level pub with a well stocked bar this is the pub for you. The numerous rooms, including three upstairs, are decorated to a high degree with bare brick walls, period style furniture and historic photos. There are four real fires in various rooms. Live music on some weekends. An extensive paved garden area is a sun trap in summer. In 2017 the old stabling buildings to the rear were converted to a craft ale bar,The Tap Room.
